From the first page of the book, the author draws the reader into the world of Ruba, an 8 year old living through the civil war in Lebanon. I often felt drawn into the scene as all senses are catered for throughout. I couldn't put the book down, I almost wish for an epilogue to say that the family survived as I became emotionally engaged with them through the telling of the story.
