Review

This isn't the kind of book I would normally read; it's a pyschological thriller about a little girl's kidnapping. I'm more of a romance person- but for some reason I picked this book up. Even stranger, I love this book.

Why?

Well, Mazer tells the story in a startingly different way. She switches points of view with every chapter, but each character tells the story in a different person. For example, one person tells the story in second person (you), one tells it in first person (I), and the rest tell it in third person (he, she, it.) The scary part? The kidnapper's point of view is not just in third person... but he's referred to as "the man".

What I liked best about this book was that the kidnapped girl is a true hero. Sure, she made the mistake of getting kidnapped, but she was a little girl. However, she figured out how to get away, and that's what makes her the hero. If I ever get locked in a room with a cot and a locked window, I now know how to get out.
