Review
Dessen's books are perfect for adolescent girls (and even adults) because they have such strong life lessons and advice. Keeping the Moon has the strongest lesson of all the books: loving yourself and being emotionally strong.
Colie used to be overweight, and she used to be the known as the school slut. Then she lost the weight, expecting her life to be easier afterwards, but she was called even more of a slut.
Over the summer, Colie visits her aunt and meets a group of people who love Colie for her "Colie-ness". The problem? Colie still thinks of herself as the school slut and runs away from love- but will her new friends be able to teach her to lover herself?
This book is excellent in that it teaches girls to love themselves and that you don't have anything if you don't have self esteem.
Two thumbs and two big toes up!
