Review
When I start bending someone's ear about this book, their first reaction is typically, "Is this going to make me want to become a vegetarian?" No, it's not at all like "Fast Food Nation," or the latest vegan-conversion tool "Skinny Bitch." I found this to be an immensely educational book, from the fascinating history of industrial corn (no, really) to the literary genre of the organic grocer ("Supermarket Pastoral") to learning the intricate workings of intensive grass management farming.
One of the best reads (well, technically, listens) in quite awhile. There are some bits about industrial animal processing that may be a bit disturbing to some readers, but the intent is not to shock, merely to educate.
