Description
Set in 1904 Pittsburgh, Gem of the Ocean is chronologically the first play in Wilson's decade-by-decade cycle of the African American experience. It played across the country and on Broadway, with Phylicia Rachad as Aunt Esther, the drama's 287-year-old fiery matriarch.
